INTRODUCTION

The series was originally a light novel written by Shu, starting in April 2017 on the web novel site Shosetsuka ni Naro. It was then published by Dengeki Bunko (KADOKAWA) in March 2018, becoming a hit novel that has published over 2.2 million copies up to date. The illustrations were created by Yoshinori Shizuma.

The first season of the TV animation series began broadcasting in July 2020. It offered a main character with incomparably immense presence along with charming heroines, which were well received in Japan as well as abroad. In 2023, the <Great Spirit Arc> began its broadcast two years after the first season.

The tyrannical demon king who brought about peace becomes embroiled in <The Judgement Selection>, a battle to choose a representative for the gods that ensues in an unknown world deep underground. This is a tale that traces the lost memories of the misfit who overcomes all odds. And the past that leads to the truths of the world——.
